The Opportunity
A leading engineering and environmental consultancy is seeking a Principal Environmental Clerk of Works to provide independent environmental oversight across complex UK infrastructure projects. This is a UK-wide, field-based role offering genuine senior responsibility and the chance to work on high-profile schemes.
The Role
- Provide independent oversight of construction activities to ensure compliance with environmental commitments and consents
- Lead environmental audits on site and produce RAG-rated compliance reports
- Liaise with contractors, clients and regulators to resolve environmental issues in real time
- Mentor and support junior EnvCoWs within the team
- Contribute to continuous improvement of EnvCoW processes and documentation
About You
- Degree in Environmental Science, Ecology or a related discipline
- Significant experience as an EnvCoW or in environmental compliance on construction projects
- Strong knowledge of environmental legislation and planning consent conditions
- Relevant professional membership (e.g. IEMA, CIEEM)
- Full UK driving licence required — this is a field-based role with travel across the UK
