A simple belief that still drives everything
Gaia Search was founded in 2023 by Shaun and Brendan with a simple idea: recruitment works better when you actually understand the sector you are recruiting into.
After years in recruitment, Shaun saw the same problems come up time and time again. Generalist agencies were moving into specialist markets without really understanding them, sending candidates who were not the right fit and often disappearing once a placement had been made. The environmental and clean energy sector deserved better than that.
So, Gaia Search was built to do things differently.
We work exclusively across environmental consulting and clean energy, supporting businesses and professionals across ecology, EIA, flood risk, offshore wind, sustainability and other specialist areas. We work across all levels, from graduates through to directors, and with everyone from independent consultancies to some of the UK's largest infrastructure firms.
For us, recruitment is about more than filling a vacancy. It is about understanding what a business actually needs, getting to know the people we represent and making introductions that genuinely make sense. We believe in being honest, picking up the phone and building relationships that last beyond a single placement.
And then there is Brendan.
Brendan is our self-appointed Chief Morale Officer, strict enforcer of walk schedules and occasional participant in client calls. He has yet to successfully place a candidate, but his emotional support credentials remain unmatched.
